NOTICE OF
DETERMINATION OF NONSIGNIFICANCE (DNS)
Whitman County Planning issued a Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) under the State Environmental Policy Act Rules (Chapter 197-11 WAC) for the following project:
Whitman County proposes amendments to its Critical Areas Ordinance as part of the periodic update requirement of the Growth Management Act.
After review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with us, the Planning Office has determined that this proposal will not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment.
Copies of the DNS are available at no charge from the Planning Division located on the second floor of the Public Service Building, 310 N. Main Street, Colfax, WA 99111. The public may submit environmentally-focused written comments to the Planning Division which can be submitted in person, by email to Alan Thomson at alan.thomson@whitman
county.gov, or mailed to: Whitman County Planning Division, P.O. Box 430, Colfax, WA 99111. There is a 14-day comment period for the SEPA DNS which begins Thursday, April 23, 2026, and ends by 5:00 PM Thursday, May 7, 2026.
